UNIT 14 TASK 3 M2

There are a few differences between WiFi and 3G.

  • WiFi means wireless free and 3G is a service phone networks supply.
  • WiFi is a lot quicker than 3G, in areas where there is a high amount of WiFi available.
  • You get WiFi in your house and the 3G is the MB through your phone.
  • You get 3G anywhere that you get a phone signal.
  • You must have a router to use WiFi.
  • WiFi can be used on your phone, laptop, tablet or console but 3G can only be used on your phone.

WiFi, is usually cheaper than 3G and the connection for the majority of the time is faster. Although it only works in a certain spot. Whereas when you have 3G it can work anywhere with a good signal.

UNIT 35 TASK 2 P5

This is my first van image. It looks very plain with only a contact number on it and not much else, it isn't eye catching with only a name and a small logo.

I then changed it to make it more eye catching and overall a better look for the company. I changed the colour, font and logo on the van and added in a slogan too.

This is my original band logo, which I made at first. It's very plain and boring with not much to catch the eye and it doesn't suit the genre of the music that Fall Out Boy produce, its not bright bold colours which would represent the band its more light colours which would've been better. I do like the fire though.
This is what I changed about it, I used a face from the nirvana logo but changed the colours and shading using illustrator and then made it purple, adding in the bold font for the band name making it stand out more. This logo suits the band a lot more in the sense it came from a rock band before so therefore making the correct changes it allows it to look more better.

UNIT 35, TASK 2, P2

A local band logo would be created by illustrator because I can easily use different tools to create something unique and it's simple to use. There are various tools that allow me to change the colour and different fonts. Cartoons which you can draw can be incorporated into the logo to make it more interesting and as decorative as you want it to be. There is another thing you could use and that is Photoshop which can change images to make them less alike to the original therefore copyright is not involved as it's not the original image. That is what I used for the band picture. To make the van I used illustrator, I used this for the same reasons that I used for the local band logo, all of those features are useful in making the van design.

For the flyer I used publisher as it allowed me to use various different images to make the flyer look decorative, unique and eye-catching. You can import the pictures to make the flyer look more interesting and also you can crop pictures and make them smaller so that they can fit onto  your flyer. A lot of detail can be added into making it using the icons at the side.

A bitmap graphic is composed of many tiny parts which are often many different colours, it also allows you to edit each individual pixel and since the computer has to store information about every single pixel in the image the file size of a bitmap graphic is often quite large. Using a bitmap graphic would be good for the flyers as you can use them to scan the images many times and still get the same result.

Vector graphic are created in graphics packages and consist of shapes called objects. It is possible to edit each object separately, for example you can the the shape, colour, size and position. Even if an object in a vector is quite large, it doesn't need a lot of computer memory therefore making the file size often very small. If you re-size a vector graphic it doesn't lose quality.

The vector would probably be the most appropriate file to use when saving all of the work and using the tools as, it doesn't lose quality and can save incredibly large files using barely any file size and memory.

UNIT 35 P6 TASK 3

There are many legal implications of using and editing graphical images due to copyright. Copyright is used to prevent someone from taking a piece of someone else’s work and then saying that it is theirs. This copyright form of protection means that no one can take work of images without the owner/creators permission.
If someone does steal your work it gives you the right to sue them, which gives that person a fine in which they have to pay you.  Sometimes, depending on how major the case is, some people get a prison sentence of a maximum of 10 years or a really large fine.
If you want to edit images the best thing is to first off find the ownership of that graphic and whether it is allowed to be used or not. Most people print their names onto things so this is fairly easy.

But you cannot use any image whatsoever without the copyright holders permission or unless the image is under a slightly more allowing licence. Even if you manipulate the image, the copyright still belongs to the owner and the original licence of the un-edited original image applies.

The copyright law's main purpose is to protect the images and work that have been created by people and to protect them from unfair use of their work. Cheating and plagiarism are just problems that are caused because the creators work is not protected by copyright, so anyone can state work as their own.

Copyright is a form of protection given to the authors or creators of original works of authorship which includes literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works. This means that as the author of the work that certain person has the right to do any of the following or let others do any of the following: make copies of your work, distribute copies of your work, perform the work publicly such as films dances etc..) and display the work publicly(such as artwork).
